NOTICE OF AWARD – DAM 1 STABILIZATION – THERMOSYPHONS – ARCTIC FOUNDATIONS

Solicitation No. RFP-476721-0032

Parsons Inc. (“Parsons” or “Prime Contractor”) is the Prime Contractor for the Main Construction Management Services project as issued by the Government of Canada for the Giant Mine Remediation Project.

Thermosyphons are required to mitigate the risk at Dam 1 which has been settling and placed as a High Priority in the recent Dam Safety Review. The installation of thermosyphons will help keep the core of the dam frozen, thereby reducing the risk of continued settling and potential dam failure.

The urgent need to stabilize Dam 1 warrants an expedited procurement process and, due to the technical and proprietary nature of the thermosyphon fabrication and installation, Arctic Foundations, as the only company in Canada that manufactures thermosyphons, was sole sourced to supply thermosyphons for this project.
