Welcome to Parsons Main Construction Manager's Giant Mine Remediation Project website

Parsons is the Main Construction Manager (MCM) responsible for the Giant Mine Site and is now planning and delivering work packages related to site remediation.

Parsons Inc has been working as the Main Construction Manager (MCM) for the Giant Mine Remediation Project since 2017. The site is located on the Ingraham Trail, 5 km north of Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada.  The role of the MCM is to complete the Giant Mine Remediation in accordance with the approved remediation plan and any associated authorizations and ongoing responsibility for overall Site control, including overall health and safety at the Site. Parsons also serves in the role of the Mine Manager, as defined by the Northwest Territories Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA), conducting care and maintenance and environmental monitoring activities to ensure the Site remains in regulatory compliance during remediation.


Parsons, in its role as the MCM for the GMRP, is responsible for the majority of the contracting associated with the remediation and acts as both the Mine Manager and Prime Contractor. Parsons, as Prime Contractor, will directly subcontract all the construction work packages as well as the support services work under its Contract with Canada. As MCM, Parsons is responsible to ensure its subcontractors diligently progress the work in accordance with the Contract documents,  to ensure the Site remains in regulatory compliance during remediation.


Parsons MCM Team has the dedicated people striving to see benefits from Giant Mine to involve the Indigenous and Northern residents and businesses in carrying out the work under this project.

Indigenous Employment

Parsons, with support of Canada will utilize the Giant Mine Remediation Project (GMRP) to deliver substantial opportunities and benefits to the Indigenous Groups affected by the Giant Mine.

The aim for Parsons is to collaborate with Indigenous Groups and the Parties to deliver socioeconomic benefits in relation to the GMRP and to support the GMRP’s Socioeconomic Strategy.  The objectives for Parsons in relation to the GMRP are to:

  • maximize opportunities for Indigenous Businesses arising from the Project
  • maximize opportunities for Indigenous Businesses to submit competitive bids in response to solicitations
  • encourage and support the creation and continuation of partnerships that provide Indigenous Businesses access to additional resources and equipment, thereby enabling them to compete more effectively for procurement opportunities on the GMRP
  • ensure regular and systematic review on Indigenous suppliers and business capacity to assess local Indigenous ability to undertake GMRP CWPs. create opportunities for Indigenous businesses to diversify, and identify opportunities to build business capacity to maximize the socioeconomic opportunities for Local Indigenous Groups under all CWPs
  • maximize the socioeconomic benefits for Local Indigenous Groups arising from all work.
